On March 20th, according to information from the Beijing Municipal Government's Bus Card Company, the company has already launched a “scanning code by bus” service. Users can take bus by scanning the QR code regardless of the type of smart phone they hold.

According to reports, users who want to experience this service need to open an "electronic card" service under the real name of the Beijing Card App. The opening of the service does not charge any fees, supports WeChat free payment, and enjoys the fare discount policy of the current 50-percent ticket system.

The openness of the scanning qr code public transport toll collection system independently developed and produced by Cardlan can fully guarantee the flexibility of the system, and with the development of new technologies, the subsystems that are subsequently developed will be seamlessly integrated into the entire system. The system's network architecture, communication protocol, and data structure are in line with international and domestic standards and related regulations, and facilitate the inter-system between subsystems (such as IC card management and clearing center systems, banking systems, and industrial application management systems). It realizes the interconnection of heterogeneous platforms, completes remote data transmission, clearing, and management, and helps to standardize operations and management after the system is built.

Whether a bus is equipped with one or two card readers mainly depends on the fare calculation method of the route: single-fare routes usually only require passengers to tap their cards once when boarding, so one card reader is sufficient; while distance-based fare routes require passengers to tap their cards both when boarding and alighting to calculate the actual trip cost, hence two card readers are needed.
