Congratulations to the self-developed and produced Fare Collection system CL-A0618 Smart Card Reader of Shenzhen Cardlan Technology Co., Ltd has passed the IP56 dust-proof and waterproof test. It has obtained one report in both Chinese and English. Please ask the partners who need it to download and check the inspection report.

Since the bus fare collection terminal needs to be installed in a special environment on the bus, the bus card reader must be required to prevent dust and water from entering the machine. The dust-proof rating is obtained by trial using a rigid ball (50mm diameter) to sand dust, after different forces and times. The waterproof rating is obtained by testing the product from dripping to spraying to diving, increasing the amount of water and testing time.

The IP protection level can be written directly as "IPxx" in writing, where "xx" represents two numbers, the former number indicates the dustproof level, the number is 0~6; the latter number indicates the waterproof level, the number is 0~8. The higher the number, the higher the level of protection.

The CL-A0618 smart card reader independently developed by Shenzhen Cardlan passed the IP56 dustproof and waterproof test. The first number indicates the level of dust-proof and prevent foreign objects from entering the appliance. Level 5 indicates that the foreign object can be completely prevented from intruding. Although the dust cannot be completely prevented from intruding, the amount of dust intrusion does not affect the normal operation of the appliance. The second number indicates the degree of airtightness of the appliance against moisture and water ingress. Level 6 indicates electrical appliances that can be installed on the deck to prevent damage caused by large waves.

Why do some buses have only one card reader while others have two? Why do some buses have only one card reader while others have two?

Whether a bus is equipped with one or two card readers mainly depends on the fare calculation method of the route: single-fare routes usually only require passengers to tap their cards once when boarding, so one card reader is sufficient; while distance-based fare routes require passengers to tap their cards both when boarding and alighting to calculate the actual trip cost, hence two card readers are needed.
