What is bus validator

Bus validator, also known as bus card reader or bus ticketing machine, is a kind of bus, subway, taxi onboard payment device. The devices, usually mounted above coin boxes or in the driver's cab, can be used to swipe a card to pay for bus fares, subway fares, taxi fares and other transportation costs. In addition, some terminal use Bluetooth technology to connect to mobile apps, making it easier for passengers to make online payments.

The main functions of the card reader on the bus include:

Whether a bus is equipped with one or two card readers mainly depends on the fare calculation method of the route: single-fare routes usually only require passengers to tap their cards once when boarding, so one card reader is sufficient; while distance-based fare routes require passengers to tap their cards both when boarding and alighting to calculate the actual trip cost, hence two card readers are needed.
