President Rahmon visited the capital's public transport bus site

Cardlan took part in Tajikistan's capital Dushanbe city bus payment project

According to the Ministry of Transport, Tajikistan has about 445,000 registered vehicles, of which only 120 are electric, accounting for 0.03 percent of the total. Trolleybuses and electric buses account for the largest proportion of the urban electric transport fleet in operation across the country. About 16,000 trolleybuses and electric buses are in operation in Tajikistan. A new generation of electric buses and trolleybuses assembled in Tajikistan began trial operation on city roads recently at Dushanbe bus station in the capital of Tajikistan.

By 2026, Tajikistan is expected to increase the proportion of electric buses to 15%. A draft comprehensive Plan for the development of electric Transportation for 2022-2026 has been prepared by the Ministry of Transport and is currently being reviewed by the relevant ministries of Tajikistan. The gradual increase in electricity production in Tajikistan has enabled us to increase the number of electric vehicles, including electric buses, trolleybuses, electric cars. This would reduce the country's dependence on oil exporters.

Dushanbe is the capital of Tajikistan, with an area of 125 square kilometers and a population of 800,000. Dushanbe, whose name means "Monday" in Farsi, has the feel of a mix of old and new, a mix of crumbling buildings from the last century and newer ones from the last few years, but the houses are generally not tall, more than a dozen stories high. The green area of the city accounts for a large proportion of all kinds of roses.

Tajik people are generally warm and friendly, the most direct expression of which is to take the bus. Local people are very fond of giving up their seats. When they see women, old people and children getting on the bus, they immediately give up their seats. In addition, local electricity prices are very cheap, no different from free, for many years has been the world's lowest electricity charges. You can imagine a bus fare of 1 somoni in the capital, which is only 70 cents in RMB.

Whether a bus is equipped with one or two card readers mainly depends on the fare calculation method of the route: single-fare routes usually only require passengers to tap their cards once when boarding, so one card reader is sufficient; while distance-based fare routes require passengers to tap their cards both when boarding and alighting to calculate the actual trip cost, hence two card readers are needed.
